Our Process —What Happens When You Call
Most people put off calling a gutter or window company because they don’t know what to expect. They’ve heard the stories — the four-hour in-home sales presentation, the “manager’s discount” that expires at midnight, the surprise fees after the contract is signed.
Here’s what actually happens when you contact Metroplex Gutter and Windows, from the first phone call through the finished installation. We’re writing it down because we think you should know the process before you enter it.

You Call, and a Local Person Answers
When you call (214) 306-4665, you’re calling Waxahachie. Not a national call center in another state. Not a phone tree with six menu options before you reach a human. You’ll talk to someone who knows Ellis County, knows the DFW south corridor, and can have an intelligent conversation about what you’re seeing at your house.
We’ll ask basic questions: What service are you looking at — gutters, windows, or both? What’s your home’s situation — new installation, replacement, a problem you’re trying to solve? Where are you located? This takes five minutes, not fifty.
If you prefer, you can request an estimate through the website. Same result — we’ll reach back out to schedule the on-site assessment. We don’t send automated quotes without seeing the property. Every home is different, and a number that doesn’t account for your specific roof geometry, soil conditions, and building details isn’t a real number.
The Most Important Step
The On-Site Assessment
This is where we differ the most from what you may have experienced with other companies. We come to your home, and we look at everything. Not everything we can sell you — everything that affects the recommendation.
The Roofline
We walk the roofline from the ground and measure every run. Roof pitch, valleys, corners, fascia condition, soffit configuration. We identify what’s working and what isn’t in the existing system.
The Ground Below
What most gutter companies skip entirely. We check soil grading around the foundation. On Blackland Prairie clay — the soil under most homes in Waxahachie, Midlothian, Red Oak, and Ennis — the relationship between your gutters and your foundation is the whole reason gutters matter. We look for erosion at the drip line, water pooling near the foundation, and downspout discharge paths.
The Tree Canopy
Species and density of trees determine your debris load and influence whether leaf guards make sense — and which type. Live oak pollen catkins behave differently than post oak leaves, which behave differently than pecan shells. We match protection to actual debris, not a national product catalog.
Existing System Diagnosis
If your current gutters are failing, we identify why — undersized for DFW storm intensity, improper pitch, deteriorated seals at sectional joints, inadequate downspout capacity, or hanger failure. The diagnosis determines whether the answer is repair, partial replacement, or full system replacement.
For Gutter Projects
Every Window, Not Just the Problem Ones
We assess frame condition, seal integrity, operation, and glass condition on every window in the house. Fogging between panes, condensation, cracks, UV seal damage — we document it all.
Orientation Analysis
South-facing and west-facing windows receive the most intense solar exposure in DFW and benefit the most from low-SHGC glass. If budget requires phasing the project, this analysis lets us tell you which windows deliver the largest energy and comfort improvement first.
Historic & Custom Sizing
On older homes across Waxahachie’s historic districts and Ennis’s Craftsman-era neighborhoods, we assess whether existing openings require standard or custom-sized replacement units — and whether architectural character requires specific frame profiles or specialty shapes.
For Window Projects
For Combined Projects
When we’re assessing both gutters and windows, we look at the relationship between them. Gutters that overflow above a window dump water directly onto the frame, sill, and seal — accelerating deterioration. If the gutters above your windows are failing, that’s part of the window recommendation. This integrated view is something a gutter-only company and a window-only company simply don’t provide.
What the Assessment Is Not
The assessment is not a sales presentation. No binder of brochures. No slideshow on a laptop at your kitchen table. No quoting a high number then “calling the manager” for a discount. No price that’s only good today.
It’s a diagnostic visit. It typically takes 30 to 45 minutes depending on the scope. You don’t need to be available for a three-hour appointment.
After the Visit
The Recommendation and Estimate
After the assessment, we put together a recommendation. This includes what we suggest, why we suggest it, and what it costs.
Gutters
Gutter size, profile (K-style or half-round), material and color, downspout size and placement, leaf guard recommendation if appropriate, and discharge strategy — surface extensions, splash blocks, or underground drainage. Every sizing decision is driven by your actual roof drainage area, not a standard template.
Windows
Which windows need replacement and why. Frame material (vinyl, fiberglass, wood, or clad-wood), glass package (Low-E, argon fill, SHGC rating), and window style. For phased projects, we recommend the priority sequence — usually south-facing and west-facing first, where the energy impact is greatest.
If Your Existing System Is Fine, We'll Tell You
If we assess your gutters and they’re properly sized, properly pitched, and structurally sound — we’ll say so. If all you need is cleaning, new hangers, or sealant at a few joints, we’ll recommend that instead. We’d rather do a small repair honestly than replace a system that has years of life left.
The Estimate Itself
The estimate is written. It details every component — materials, labor, hardware, and any site-specific requirements. There are no hidden fees. The number on the estimate is the number on the invoice unless you request changes during the project.
We don’t inflate the initial estimate so we can “discount” it on the spot. The first number we give you is the real number. If you want to get other estimates — and we think you should — our number will hold. No expiration date. No “today only” pricing. Take the time you need to make a decision you’re comfortable with.
Moving Forward
Scheduling
Once you decide to move forward, we schedule the installation. Most residential gutter installations are completed in a single day. Window replacements depend on the number of windows — a typical whole-house project runs one to three days depending on window count and complexity.
For specialty materials — copper, faux copper, custom color matching, or specific window configurations — there may be a lead time for material ordering. We’ll communicate that clearly at the time of scheduling.
We provide a specific installation date, not a “sometime next week” window. If weather forces a reschedule (and in DFW’s spring storm season, it occasionally does), we’ll call ahead and reschedule promptly.
The Main Event
Installation Day
On-Site Fabrication
We carry continuous coil stock on the truck. On installation day, we measure each run again — confirming the assessment dimensions — and feed the coil through the roll-forming machine to produce one continuous piece of gutter for each run. No pre-cut 10-foot sections joined with splices. Fewer joints means fewer leak points.
Heavy-Duty Mounting
Hidden hangers screwed through the gutter and into the fascia. Hangers spaced to support loaded weight during DFW’s heaviest storms — tighter spacing than the standard 32-inch interval many companies use regardless of conditions.
Drainage Verification
Before we leave, we run water through every run. Water should flow smoothly to each downspout with no standing water and no pooling. If a section needs adjustment, we adjust it before we pull out of the driveway.
Gutter Installation
Interior Protection
Floors, furniture, and work areas around each opening are covered before we begin. We remove the existing window, inspect the rough opening for rot, moisture damage, insect damage, or framing problems, and address anything we find before the new unit goes in.
Precision Fit
Each window is shimmed, leveled, and plumbed. Insulation fills the gap between frame and rough opening. Interior and exterior trim is fitted and sealed. Every window is tested — open, close, lock, tilt — before we move to the next.
Custom Sizing for Older Home

Custom Sizing for Older Homes
Where openings don’t match standard dimensions — common in Waxahachie’s historic homes and Ennis’s Craftsman-era houses — we use custom-ordered units. Proper fit without modifying original framing or compromising architectural character.
Window Installation
Before We Leave
The Walkthrough
When the installation is complete, we walk the finished project with you.
For gutters, we point out the pitch direction of each run, the location and purpose of each downspout, the discharge path, and — if leaf guards were installed — how they function and what maintenance they reduce versus what maintenance still needs to happen.
We're Honest About Leaf Guards
Leaf guards reduce cleaning frequency, but they don’t eliminate it entirely. We’d rather set a realistic expectation than have you discover a clogged system two years from now and feel misled.
For windows, we demonstrate the operation of each new window — opening, closing, locking, and tilt-in cleaning. We explain warranty coverage, expected maintenance, and what to watch for over time. We point out the NFRC label on each window so you can see the actual performance numbers — U-Factor, SHGC, Visible Transmittance — of what was installed.
The walkthrough is also when we check our own work. If you see anything that doesn’t look right — a color mismatch, a sealant line that isn’t clean, a window that feels stiff — tell us on the spot. It’s easier to address it now than after we’ve packed up.
Long After Installation Day
After We Leave
The invoice matches the estimate unless you requested scope changes. Payment terms are straightforward and discussed before work begins.
You have our direct number. If something comes up after the installation — a question about maintenance, a concern about performance during the first heavy rain, anything — you call us. You’ll reach the same local team, not a warranty claims department in another state.
We don’t hard-sell maintenance contracts on residential projects, but we’ll tell you what your system needs: gutter cleaning once or twice a year in DFW (more often under heavy tree canopy), and periodic inspection of sealant joints and hanger connections. If you want us to handle that maintenance, we do. If you want to handle it yourself, we’ll tell you how.
For commercial properties with longer runs and higher stakes, we offer structured maintenance agreements with scheduled inspections.
That's the Process. Start to Finish.
